Therapeutic Massage in Saanich & Langford

Evidence-Based Pain Relief & Functional Recovery

As a Registered Massage Therapist, I specialize in clinical, results-focused treatments that address the root causes of pain and dysfunction—not just the symptoms.

What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage is a clinical approach focused on specific health outcomes rather than general relaxation. While relaxation may occur, the primary goals are:

  • Pain reduction and management

  • Injury rehabilitation and recovery

  • Improved mobility and function

  • Addressing underlying causes of discomfort

  • Preventing recurrence of issues

Unlike general relaxation massage, therapeutic sessions involve assessment, targeted techniques, and often homework exercises or lifestyle recommendations.

ืดFor therapeutic massage, every session is a chance to reduce pain, restore function, and help your body move with more ease.ืด

Who Benefits from Therapeutic Massage?

You don't need to be an athlete to need therapeutic care. This treatment is ideal if you experience:

  • Chronic Pain: Back pain, neck tension, shoulder impingement, hip dysfunction

  • Overuse Injuries: Repetitive strain from desk work, trades, or caregiving (carpal tunnel, tendonitis, tension headaches)

  • Post-Surgical Recovery: Scar tissue management, mobility restoration after surgery

  • Postural Issues: Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, lower back strain from sitting or standing work

  • Acute Injuries: Whiplash, sprains/strains, muscle spasms

  • Stress-Related Physical Symptoms: Jaw tension (TMJD), tight shoulders, stress headaches

My Approach: Assessment-Based Treatment

Every therapeutic session begins with a brief assessment to understand your pain patterns, movement limitations, and health history. I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" pressure — treatment intensity is adjusted to your tolerance and tissue response.

Techniques may include:

  • General Swedish: long, flowing strokes to warm tissue, improve circulation, and ease the nervous system into treatment

  • Effleurage: broad, gliding strokes applied with the palms to connect areas of the body and transition between techniques

  • Petrissage: rhythmic kneading and lifting of muscle tissue to release tension and improve local circulation

  • Trigger Point Release: releasing hyper-irritable spots that refer pain

  • Deep Tissue & Myofascial Release: targeting adhesions and restricted connective tissue

  • Joint Mobilizations: gentle movements to improve range of motion

  • Neuromuscular Techniques: resetting muscle tension through nervous system feedback

  • Active Release Techniques: combining movement with pressure to break up scar tissue
